Some huge news for the Dissident, I finally hit one thousand subscribers for this outlet.
I first started the Dissident in 2021 after I felt I needed to give my view on the conversation around politics and geopolitics. My earlier (and now deleted) work was rough and wordy, as I had not had the same experience writing. Eventually, I gave up feeling like I could not make any real change in the world or change people’s views. This coupled with my extremely busy and chaotic personal and social life at the time caused me to pack it up and give up on writing in 2022.
After time passed I wanted to get back into writing but still felt too pessimistic about politics and the world situation to have the inspiration. Finally on June 25th when Julian Assange was freed, I was inspired to begin writing again. Julian is a personal hero to me as a dissident journalist and someone I view as a symbol of truth and justice, in a world of propaganda lies and oppression. Seeing him freed, and back with his family brought back the spark of hope that led me to start the Dissident in the first place.
This led me to write my first new article titled “Julian Assange is Free” on June 25th of this year, a tribute to the work Assange and Wikileaks had done, along with a retrospective on the insane espionage case against him and what it meant for freedom of the press and free speech.
Later when reading the Globe and Mail, the supposed “paper of record” in Canada I came across one of the most lie-filled hit pieces I have ever read in a mainstream media outlet. The article was a hit piece on Julian Assange by British-Canadian “journalist” Doug Saunders. The article enraged me so much I had to write a debunking of all the propaganda and outright lies in that article. My response to Saunders got quite a bit of attention from high-profile people. It was tweeted out by the official Wikileaks account as well as Stella Assange. It was also republished in the excellent independent outlet “The Canada Files” and shared by Dimitri Lascaris, a candidate for the Canadian Green party nominee in 2019 who got to 44 percent.
The positive reception I got from this article, along with Assange’s freedom inspired me to pick the Dissident back up as a regular thing. Below is some of the work I am most proud of.
Debunking Genocide Propaganda
I have given a lot of attention on the Dissident to debunking the propaganda used to justify the brutal Western-backed genocide in Gaza. I wrote two articles on the bombshell revelation that Israel issued the Hannibal directive on October 7th, a story that has been ignored to this day in mainstream media. I sat through Netanyahu's disgusting pro-genocide speech to Congress, trying my best not to puke in order to debunk the genocidal propaganda he was spewing. I wrote an accurate history of Gaza before October 7th, showing how Israel wanted this genocide from the beginning.
Covering the 2024 election.
I am also proud of the reporting I have done on the American 2024 election with disdain for both major political parties. I have written articles going over how both parties are abysmal on important issues like foreign policy and free speech. I have exposed faux populists on the right like JD Vance as zionist shills and have reported on the Democrat’s horrific neo-con foreign policy platform in a three-part series.
Election Interference
Finally, I have covered the fearmongering “election interference” claims going around this cycle by debunking the “Iranian interference” claims, laughing at the joke of an attempt Russia allegedly made at “election interference” and documenting the real election interference coming from Israel.
Thank you.
This is just a small handful of the important article I have published since restarting “The Dissident”. The work I have done these past few months has been the pride of my life. I want to thank every single one of you who subscribe for giving me the encouragement to keep going. When I started I didn’t know if I would be able to hit 1 thousand subscribers at all let alone this quickly, and I was able to get there thanks to you. I want to give a special thanks to Indie from Indie News Network and Indie Media Today who has done more than anyone to help the Dissident grow since the beginning and recently interviewed me on his podcast. If you enjoy the work I do here on the Dissident, consider becoming a paid subscriber so I can eventually make this my full-time job. All content will be available to everyone for free, but by becoming a paid subscriber you can allow me to spend more time focusing on this work and creating more content. I am planning to launch a podcast soon, to go along with the articles and your support would help greatly in getting that off the ground.
Thank you,
The Dissident.
Congratulations
Congratulations, brother!
