One slim bright spot? The United Methodist Church has voted to officially divest from Israel. Interestingly, or sadly, per Mondoweiss, it's the first church in the world to do this. https://mondoweiss.net/2025/08/united-methodist-church-divests-from-israel-bonds/

Netanyahu and his gang of thieves have openly advocated for starving Gaza’s. You can read it in their vile comments! How can that be denied? Israel doesn’t deserve to exist anymore!

Please provide a source.

I don’t need Netanyahu to say it - he is actively doing it. 170 days of no aid trucks entering Gaza. No food. No medicine or medical supplies. No water. No diapers. Nothing except death shrouds. Keep denying reality.

I see nothing that the Finance minister "openly advocated for starving Gaza's" as Gerda claimed above. Please give a specific quote from Netanyahu. When people make claims that are baseless they lose their credibility.

Israel’s Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich: "We conquer, cleanse, and stay... On the way, we annihilate everything that still remains.….We're breaking Gaza apart, leaving it as a pile of rubble, total unprecedented destruction."

Well, that settles it.

If someone wants to believe there is a genocide, they will believe it — regardless of the lack of evidence.

If they are shown pictures of malnourished children, they will never pause to ask: but why do the siblings look well fed?

If they are told that a woman flown to Italy died of malnutrition two days later, they will not stop to question why it was not mentioned that she was also suffering from acute leukemia...

If saying something bad about Jews seems too antisemitic, you can always say that you think Jews are great - it's the Zionists that you hate :)

Wonder if Bari Weiss is going to try to lie about this, too?

Also the owners of the PornHub, the biggest porn site in the world is a Rabbi? Weiss should be proud that leaders of moral guidance of her tribe produces and disseminate porn.

Folks, I thought Mois was joking, or that we'd gone beyond anti-zionism to antisemitism, but it's true. A rabbi who heads a private equity firm owns PornHub. https://www.independentsentinel.com/rabbi-buys-mindgeek-that-owns-pornhub-other-porn-sites/

Compelling, but here is my question: why is it that we don't have pictures of the families also suffering malnutrition? Someone is able to take a photo of the one person, they are able to talk to the family members, yet, I've yet to see a single photo of the whole family suffering malnutrition. On the famed picture that appeared on the front pages of the New York Times (with their correction quietly posted later), the family that was included in the picture looked fine. Also, are these unique individual cases because of the extra care they need? Or is the malnutrition and famine widespread?

People with severe chronic diseases often have problems with nourishment. They may not absorb nutrients even though they consume food. This is independent of the availability of food. Tell me, why do the care givers of these people appear to be well nourished? These care givers appear to have adequate food. Do these mothers with hold food from their children and eat it themselves?

The Free Press unintentionally demonstrate the danger of having an entirely 'free' press, namely that the press is free to publish whatever disingenuous and harmful lies they like as long as it sells, which it clearly does

Suffering from malnutrition BECAUSE of their medical conditions NOT because they can’t get food. Else why is mother not malnourished you dimwit

Gee's avatar

That's some silly thinking. Why would Israel need to fabricate anything? These people hate the Jews immensely, without any help. Well-funded death cults are free of charge from Islamic doctrine. They're all over the world, but we only focus on this group like their something special. They're not. Same bullshit.

Michael Lynch's avatar

The Zionists have created the perfect excuse. I'm very surprised that those NAZI's on trial at Nuremberg and elsewhere didn't think of this one. All those people who were starved to death in the camps in WW2 must have also had "underlying health conditions"! It should be so clear to everyone. This is pure (evil) genius, can you imagine the mind that could come up with this theory? Reinhard Heydrich could not have conceived a better explanation. Of course, it is these children's fault that they starved, the food supply was cut off, along with almost all but the most rudimentary medical care. Yes! They certainly brought it all on themselves.

Nana Baakan Agyiriwah's avatar

One of the things about this so-called debate about whether or not the Palestinians are starving is that folks really don't get it or either they don't have children. Children have much less fat and more brittle bones than adults. If you have children, you would know that they can eat heartily, and burn that food off with a quickness while we adults take much longer to lose weight. Saying that the adults look well fed from a picture is no indication of their level of hunger, or even how much they weighed before they were being starved.

Secondly, before October 7, 2023 500 trucks of aid were going into Gaza on a daily basis, which the actual need was 700, so Gazans were already food insecure before the war. Israel was allowing just enough food into Gaza to prevent an actual famine before the war. So people were already hungry. Have you seen the starving doctors???

Thirdly, I suggest we all take a look at this article written by Alex Waal, a famine expert who knows exactly how lack of good nutrition for children and adults affects the body of both. Not to mention, poor sewage, contaminated drinking water, insects that bite and causing infections, toxic air from the 900+ tons of bombs that have been dropped, eco-system being devastated, settlers tearing up farmland and olive groves, and corpses rotting under the rubble.

So let's begin with this article, note the date.

18 January 2024 | Famine expert Alex de Waal on Israel’s starvation of Gaza (Use this link to read the entire article) https://www.thenewhumanitarian.org/interview/2024/01/18/israel-icj-gaza-famine-starvation-de-waal

‘The responsibility for that lies overwhelmingly with Israel. It will have to pay not only financially but morally and legally as well.’

BOSTON, United States

While there hasn’t been an official declaration, famine is already taking place in parts of the Gaza Strip, UN officials said this week. It has arrived with unprecedented speed, as Israel has laid total siege to the enclave for more than three months and carried out a massive bombing campaign that has destroyed much of the infrastructure needed to sustain life.

The deliberate starvation of civilians is a war crime, and the allegation that Israel is creating the risk of death from starvation in Gaza is central to the case being brought by South Africa at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) accusing Israel of genocide.

To better understand the hunger situation in Gaza, The New Humanitarian sat down with Alex de Waal, executive director of the World Peace Foundation at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in the US, and an expert of famine and humanitarian crises.

As starvation and deadly disease outbreaks spread, UN agencies are calling for a fundamental change in the amount of aid entering Gaza as well as increased access and safety guarantees from Israel to allow humanitarian activities to take place inside the territory.

But even if there is a massive increase in the amount of assistance entering Gaza, the dire conditions are “not something that can be turned around overnight”, de Waal said. And if the aid delivery and access situation isn’t soon reversed, “it won't be long before children, young children, start dying in large numbers of hunger and disease,” he added.

What's different about the Gaza case is the speed and the comprehensiveness of that destruction. We have not seen a population reduced from a situation of stress to an acute extreme emergency on this scale in a matter of months.

A deal announced on 16 January – brokered by France and Qatar – will allow more humanitarian aid to enter Gaza in exchange for medicine for the estimated 136 Israeli and foreign hostages who continue to be held by Hamas, the Palestinian political and militant group that governs the enclave. The hostages were taken during the deadly raid into Israel by Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups on 7 October that precipitated the current war.

It is unclear how much aid will enter Gaza under the deal or how long it might last. Israel has only allowed a trickle of humanitarian assistance into the enclave since announcing the total siege on 9 October.

A food security assessment carried out by a group of UN-backed experts at the end of November and early December found that the entire population of Gaza – some 2.3 million people – was facing the imminent risk of famine, and around 60% of the population was experiencing “catastrophic” or “emergency” levels of food insecurity.

Since then, the situation has only gotten worse, according to de Waal.

Deaths from disease and hunger could soon surpass conflict-related deaths in Gaza, the UN and aid organisations have warned.

The New Humanitarian’s conversation with de Waal covered what famines are, how the situation in Gaza compares to other recent food crises, the legal ramifications of starvation being used as a weapon of war, and what urgent steps need to be taken to bring the population of Gaza back from the brink of mass starvation.

This interview has been edited for length and clarity. Continue reading here https://www.thenewhumanitarian.org/interview/2024/01/18/israel-icj-gaza-famine-starvation-de-waal
